The Madonie villages
The Madonie are a unique circuit in Sicily, a treasure of biodiversity, millenary history and still alive peasant culture.
The villages are centers full of history, traditions and ancient flavors among the most beautiful in Italy. In the past crossed by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans, they are spread out on the slopes until they touch the sea or perched on hilltops with the houses often close together and compact to form a single stone backdrop.
In the vicinity of Piano Battaglia, easily reachable are Petralia Soprana and Sottana. Surrounded by endless expanses of pastures and bucolic landscapes, both are characterized by the presence of castles, silent courtyards, ancient churches, marble statues by Gagini, stuccoes by Serpotta, painted altar frontals, silver tabernacles), noble palaces, fountains and panoramas as far as the eye can see.
